Question:  If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Answer:  Yes, but no one hears it.

Marketing is much the same way - you can have an incredible product or service, intense logo design, a mind-bending website, but if no one knows it's there, your efforts are pointless and (dare we say it), fruitless.

The whole reason for marketing is to increase revenue streams, cash flow.  Marketing isn't about creating the prettiest, most interactive website known to mankind - it's all about using those tools to get individuals to purchase products and service and leave them feeling as though they made the right buying decision.

Myth:  Marketing is expensive.
Marketing your business does not have to be expensive - it can be as simple as handing out well-crafted and designed business cards at a networking meeting.  The truth of the matter is that everything a business does that is visible to the public is "marketing."

Myth:  Marketing plans are rigid.
Marketing plan development should include fluidity, the ability to change quickly with trends and hot sales topics.  For example, if you're in the durable medical equipment industry, the changes in Medicaid rules need to be communicated quickly to your providers.  If you don't, you'll lose business because you will simply not receive reimbursement for product.  And then, you're broke.
